A letter written by Rabbi Chaim Elazar Shapira of Munkatch in the year 1937.
In it, he discusses his failing health and directly connects it with the general situation of Kolell Munkatch. He writes that he will be taking a break from his medical treatments and traveling home for Purim. He also discusses the printing of his father's work, inquiring about the price of paper and the like.
Rabbi Chaim Eliezer Shapira (1871 – 1937), also known as the Minchas Elazar, was the son of the Darchei Teshuva and the Rabbi of Munkatch. He was one of the great rabbinical leaders of Hungary before World War II and fought passionately to preserve Jewish tradition.
