Entire Set! Talmud Yerushalmi. Bomberg Press. First Edition. Venice, 1523

The entire Talmud Yerushalmi printed for the first time based on handwritten manuscripts in Daniel Bomberg’s famous Venetian printing press.
Magnificent set all volumes complete with all title pages and wide margins. Extremely rare to find this set completely intact and in such good condition.
After Daniel Bomberg completed his landmark printing of the entire Talmud Bavli between the years 1520-1522, he then went on to publish the Talmud Yerushalmi which he completed printing in just one year in the same majestic style as the printing of the Talmud Bavli.
Every subsequent printing of the Yerushalmi is based on this edition.
The Yerushalmi was printed based on four manuscripts (see the colophon at the end of Maseches Shabbos p. 17b). One of those manuscripts is the one known today as the Leiden Manuscript, which is housed in Holland’s Leiden University. The Leiden Manuscript is the only known manuscript of the Yerushalmi to survive intact.
