A handwritten compilation of essays on wondrous topics such as good-luck, how to play/win the with dices, fortune telling and other esoteric topics. Also includes segulos, riddles, calendars, charts, illustrations and other hidden topics.
Written in the writing style of the Jews of Cochin in 1799, which are the earliest Hebrew manuscripts from India.
The manuscript contains a work discussing the cube/dice goral, with illustrations of the possible outcomes and what they mean. sefer goral Achitofel, and sefer Niflaos Unisyonos from the Ibn Ezra’s on goralos.
Colophon on p. 52b states, “Completed on Tuesday, the 13th of Teves of the year
Mevaser Tov -1799.” Above the colophon is the autograph of Yosef Shmuel Rachbi.
There is a listing of birthdates from the years 1799- 1810 on pp. 27-28 of members of the following families: Rachbi, Tzaadi, Mizrahi, Ashkenazi and Nordin.
Cochin, 1799. 60 pages. Page size: 11×9 cm. Good condition. Few pages at the beginning and ending are missing. Tears and stains on front and back pages. old binding.
