“Edited precisely from the original writings”
Chassidic essays related by the Admor Hazakein Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the Baal Hatanya; his son and successor the Admor Rabbi Dov Ber Schneerson, the Mitteler Rebbe; and his grandson the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, author of Tzemach Tzedek.

Handwritten volume encompassing 13 essays on 146 sides, known in the Lubavitch community as a “bichel” (Yiddish for book). The first 3 essays were transcribed from speeches by the Admor Hazakein; the next 5 essays were delivered by the Mitteler Rebbe; and the last 5 essays were related by the Tzemach Tzedek.
[important information was found in this handwritten manuscript, in the essay entitled “V’asisa tzitz zahav.” The essay, which was printed in sefer Toras Chaim (Kehas Edition, Shmos Vol. 2 p. 605 in the list of manuscripts printed at the end of the sefer), states that these divrei Torah appear in several ‘bichels’ “but the dates and time they were said were not preserved in the manuscripts.” This particular manuscript notes the year as 5584 (1828).

At the end of the essay entitled “V’yisfu Anavim” by the Mitteler Rebbe, on leaf 48a, the scribe writes: “Edited precisely from the body of the letter” which means that it was copied directly from the Admor’s original manuscript.

1. The holy Admor Rabbi Shneur Zalman Schneerson of Liadi (1745-1813), called “Admor Hazaken” or Baal HaTanya, was the author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch. As one of the foremost Chassidic masters, he was the founder of the Chabad philosophy and progenitor of the glorious Lubavitch dynasty. Rabbi Shneur Zalman was the prime disciple of the Maggid of Mezritch who revealed to him that his soul drew from the Olam Ha’atzilus, and that his mission in this world was to reveal the methods and philosophy of Chabad in order to disseminate the sacred teachings of the Baal Shem Tov to the world.

2. The Admor Rabbi Dov Ber Schneerson (1733-1828), the Mitteler Rebbe, expounded upon the lofty teachings of his father the Baal Hatanya, and established the Lubavitch Chassidus. He succeeded his father as Admor in 1813 and led his flock until his untimely passing in 1828 at the age of only 54 years.

3. The Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1789-1866), the Tzemach Tzedek, was raised by his holy grandfather, the Baal Hatanya. He was the son-in-law and successor of his uncle, the Mitteler Rebbe, and became the third Admor in the Chabad-Lubavitch dynasty in 1828. His teachings on both the Revealed and Hidden Torah contain profound insights and are studied in great depth.
