Letter by Rabbi Yisrael Meir Hakohein Kagan of Radin, with appeal “For the purpose of establishing this great house [the yeshivah in Radin] where Torah is being taught for over fifty years!”

The margins of the letter feature the Chofetz Chaim’s full autograph:
“Yisrael Meir Hakohein, author of sefer Chofetz Chaim and Mishnah Berurah.”

In the course of the letter, the Chofetz Chaim explains that “Its existence in recent times was fully dependent on the help and support of our brothers in America whom Shamayim has granted [the merit] of becoming the shelter and bastion of our holy Torah”.

The letter is addressed to Rabbi Azriel Munk in Berlin. The Chofetz Chaim kindly requests that the recipient assist the yeshivah’s emissaries in the United States.
