“The prophet spoke great words, ” wrote the Chasam Sofer in reference to this sefer Mitpachas Sefarim.
Hagaon Harav Yaakov Emdin was one of the greatest Jewish authors of all times, whose prolific, eloquent writings are replete with metaphors and poetry. One particular work, remarkable for both its content and distinct style is Mitpachas Sefarim, which discusses the time period and identity of the author of the Zohar.
The Chasam Sofer was a passionate admirer of the Yaabetz who referred to him as the “Greatest of Achronim” (Shu”t Chasam Sofer Yoreh Deah Ch. 264)
The first section of Mitpachas Sefarim discusses the Zohar, Tikkunei Hazohar and Midrash Ha’ne’elam. The second section reveals the author’s insights on Emunas Chachamim by Rabbi Aviad Sar Shalom Basilea and other works.
