Rare Historical Book Describing
Jewish LIfe in Romania and America,  1874, Only Edition

A description of the travels of Aharon Yehuda Leib Horowitz throughout Romania and the United States.

The prosecution and immigration problem facing Romanian Jews was a prominent issue in the early seventies. In the polemic that erupted between supporters of emigration to Palestine vs. the United States, Aharon Yehuda Leib Horowitz became an enthusiastic propagandist for emigration to America.
His book begins with a description of the difficult situation facing Romanian Jewry versus the good lives led by the Jews of the United States, and details his travels throughout different states in America.
This rare book, an only edition, includes a separate title page for "the good of the United States," The book also serves as a travel guide for immigrants, including advertisements for travel agents and shipping companies.
