A heartfelt letter from the Sephardic and Ashkenazic leaders of Jerusalem describing the desperate situation in Jerusalem.

"The locust came up and did not leave any greenery in the trees… and the waters of the well, are lessening day by day… the hunger is very heavy… the cries are great in the streets of Jerusalem… children ask for bread and a jug of water and there is no one to pity them… save a few thousand people from death… a great tribulation like there never was before…"
The letter is signed by:
Sephardic leaders: Rishon Letzion Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi, Rabbi Rephael Meir Fanijal, Rabbi Chaim Nissim Burla, Rabbi Moshe ben Banashti and Yaakov Valero.
Ashkenazic leaders: the heads of Kollel Prushim – Rabbi Avraham Eisenstein, Rabbi Yaakov Yehuda Lowi, Rabbi Yaakov of Minsk, Rabbi Zev HaCohen of Pinsk and Rabbi Meir Manikest.
In this beautifully handwritten letter, there is also mention of the undertaking of Rabbi Shalom Moshe Chai Gagin and Rabbi Yaakov Sapir to establish permanent charity funds in France and Italy in place of sending rabbinic messengers.
