18 Century Manuscript: Decorated Seder Hoshanos and Piyutim According to Old France (Apam) Customs

Manuscript containing piyutim and Seder Hoshanos in accordance with the custom of the Moncalvo, Fusano and Asti communities.

The manuscript is written with nekudos and is decorated with illustrations of crowns, flowers and other motifs as well as large opening letters.

The sefer is signed: Rephael Chizkiyahu Pu'ah

Moncalvo, Fusano and Asti are cities in Northern Italy which were inhabited by the Jewish exiles of France. Their prayers were said according to the nusach (text) of Rashi and his disciples. These communities never printed their nusach always using handwritten prayer books.

The communities were wiped out during the Holocaust along with their special nusach.
