הערכה: $4,000 - $6,000

Autograph letter from Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin to Rabbi Dov Winniger, Av Beis Din of Teplitz.

It is understood from the response that the recipient was thinking of making a change in the mitzvah of Pri'ah in order to lessen the pain on the baby. Rabbi Shapira strongly opposed this writing, "I stood my ground… and I have also spoken of this with expert mohels and they agreed with me and therefore I ask of you to change your mind…"
The letter was signed and written by Rabbi Meir Shapira himself during the time that he was serving as Av Beis Din of Pietrekov.
Rabbi Meir Shapira (1887 – 1934) was the Rabbi of the great cities of Pietrokov and Lublin, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin and the initiator of the Daf Yomi. He was from the leading sages of his generation and a tremendous Torah scholar who already at the young age of twenty-four began serving as a Rabbi. He passed away at the age of forty-six leaving no children behind, but was known to have said that he did have two children; the Daf Yomi and Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin.
