Two Handwritten Letters from Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher of Greiditz.
Two handwritten letters written by Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher to his son, Rabbi Tzvi Guttmacher, author of Nachlas Tzvi.
Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher was a student of Rabbi Akiva Eiger and Av Beis Din of Greiditz.
He was one of the wondrous rabbinical figures of the last two centuries and was known as the "Tzaddik of Greiditz." His son Rabbi Tzvi was himself a brilliant scholar and sadly passed away young in 1871 while his father was still alive. To commemorate his memory, Rabbi Eliyahu published his son’s sefer on tractate Kinnim, and wrote that learning it is a segulah for salvation.
