Issued in 1934 by Rabbi Eliezer Davidowitz, Av Beis Din of Mihalowitz and Vienna, Rabbi Eliezer Davidowitz permitted a husband to marry a second woman based on the conditions of Heter Mei'ah Rabbanim. Rabbi David Shlisel, Rabbi Menachem Weiss and Rabbi Meir Ze'ev Hacohen ztz"l, the well-known dayanim (judges) of Munkatch, joined him in this ruling.
The ruling was typed on a typewriter and sent to be signed by nearly one hundred rabbis from different places.
Included in this rare compilation are the original signatures of Rabbis from around Hungary, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Galicia and Poland. Also including are signatures from prominent Chassidic leaders, most of whom were later killed in the Holocaust.
This is the actual letter that was written in the handwriting of the Rav who gave the heter along with his beis din and the beis din in Munkatch. Also attached are the responses of the Rabbanim and their signatures.
Please see Hebrew description for detailed Rabbinical list.
