Letter of recommendation for a Shochet in handwriting of Rabbi Chaim Soloveitchik and his court from 1894 - the beginning of his rabbinic days in Brisk

R. Chaim writes: “Although I am not an expert in the work of this shochet but after the Rabbis testified for his expertise… and I recognize him as a Torah scholar and God fearing…

Before the letter of R. Chaim the judges of Brisk wrote that the above learned his work under the shochetim in Brisk and they testified before them that he was familiar with his work and he also showed his knife before the Beit Din and was found perfect.

Signed by the dayanim Rabbi Yosef Shraga Malin Ra’avad of Brisk and Rabbi Moshe David, with the stam of the court.

The letter is dated 18 Adar 1894; 22:17 cm.

R. Chaim Soloveitchik (1853-1918) one of the greatest Torah minds of his generation as stated on his tombstone: "The Minister of the Torah, the true Chassid Rabbi of all of Israel, who gave a way through the sea of the Talmud and paved a new path with knowledge and understanding of the Torah for its truth and taught students in the hundreds and thousands".
