Magnificent Embroidered Binding
Siddur Tefillos Yisrael. Vienna, 1835
Siddur for year-round use with German translation. Exceptionally beautiful copy, pristine condition as new, with gilded edges. Binding is a spectacular work of art.
The front displays a silk embroidery of an Aron Kodesh with the words “Shivisi Hashem l’negdi samid”. The inside cover depicts a drawing of a sun surrounded by the words, “Mimizrach shemesh ad mevo’o mehulal shem Hashem”.
The other side of the binding depicts an embroidered vase of flowers with a siddur. Embroidered in the margins appears to be a religious poem in German.
The embroidery is protected by glass windows, surrounded by a metal frame on a velvet binding with the original clasp.
An exceptional binding both in design as well as in the quality of the embroidery.
