Handwritten by Rabbi Aviezri Zelig Auerbach, Av Beis Din of Posvilliers, Prime Disciple of Rabbi Yehonasan Eibeschutz.

Two complete handwritten manuscripts on Shulchan Aruch and Yoreh Deah by Rav Aviezri Zelig Auerbach, Av Beis Din of Posvilliers, disciple of Harav Yehonasan Eibeschutz.

1] Composition on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De’ah. 241 Leaves.


The author mentions his master Rabbi Yehonasan Eibeschutz’s landmark work, Kresi U’plesi, several times in this composition. See leaves 85a, and 86a.

The author also quotes the words of his mentor on Choshen Mishpat prior to the publishing of Urim V’tumim.

Between the pages of the manuscript appear letters to the author, among them two letters from his father Harav Tzvi Hirsh Auerbach, Av Beis Din of Worms (1690-1778).

Harav Aviezri Zelig Auerbach (1726-1768), Av Beis Din of Posvilliers, was the son of Harav Tzvi Hirsh Auerbach, Av Beis Din of Worms. He was a genius in both the Hidden and Revealed Torah and traveled to Metz to study Torah from Harav Yehonasan Eibeschutz where he remained for five years between 1745-1750, and became one of his prime disciples.

He married the daughter of Harav Yitzchak Zitzenheim who was the father of Harav Dovid Zitzenheim. In 1763, he was appointed Av Beis Din of Posvilliers until his sudden passing in the year 1768. [See Shomrei Mishmeres Hakodesh, The Rabbis of the Auerbach family in Ashkenaz Vol. 1, Ch. 5].

Both manuscripts contain title pages and indices as well as some of his father’s novella which he included in his work, these were written by his son Rav Avraham Auerbach, (1763-1846) Av Beis Din of Buna, disciple of Rabbi Nosson Adler and later disciple and son-in-law of his uncle Harav Dovid Zitzenheim, Harav Avrohom was the ruling torah authority in Germany, in his later years he engaged in the study of Kabbala, and set his way of conduct in accordance to the kabbalistic customs, his son was the Author of “Nachal Eshkol”.


Approx. 400 leaves . Page size: 20×17 cm. Antique binding, spine missing; preserved in cardboard folder. They were recently published based on these manuscripts.
