Complete Kuntress of Torah Novella.

13-Sides Handwritten Manuscript by Maharam Schick. Yargen, 1838

Novellae on Maseches Avodah Zara by Harav Moshe Schick, Av Beis Din Chust and author of Maharam Schick.

At the beginning of the manuscript the Maharam Shick wrote: with the help of Hashem Yargen 19th of Av [5598] 1838 on the sugya of.. (tractate) Avodah Zara daf 55b.

The novellae are written in the order of the sugya on Rashi and Tosfos.

Harav Moshe Schick (1807-1879), renowned as Maharam Schick, was a leading disciple of the Chasam Sofer who perpetuated his legacy in Hungary. He taught many great disciples and his contemporary Rabbanim all accepted his halachic rulings. Maharam Schick was appointed to the rabbinate in Yargen in the year 1838 upon the recommendation of the Chasam Sofer who would occasionally vacation in Yargen and listen to his student teach Torah. The Chasam Sofer extolled him with praises, and his students likewise attested that his humility rivaled that of Rabbi Akiva Eiger.

“He lived by the Torah of his rebbi the Chasam Sofer and never delivered a Torah discourse without first mentioning the teachings of the Chasam Sofer.” Maharam Schick references the Chasam Sofer’s novellae in several places in this kuntress (See pages 3b, 4b, 5b and 6b).

Yargen, 1838. [7] leaves. 13 written sides. Page size: 24×19. Entirely in his holy handwriting. Creases and minor tears in margins. Text intact. Bound in decorative new binding.
