Hafla’ah on Ksubos and Hamakneh on Kiddushin

1. Sefer Hafla’ah – Chiddushim on maseches Ksubos includes Sheves Achim, a pamphlet of chiddushim on the laws of ksubos.

 Offenbach, 1787. First edition.

The Baal Hafla’ah collaborated with his brother Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke of Nikolsburg to author the pamphlet Sheves Achim on the laws of ksubos based on the Shulchan Aruch.
Harav Pinchas writes at the start of the pamphlet: “…I am bound with ropes of deep love, and my soul is intertwined with the soul of my brother Moreinu Hagaon Harav Shmelke Halevi z”l, to engage with each other in halachah, with great love, as the love of Dovid and Yonasan, and to learn Shas and Poskim, to master the principles of our true Torah and its foundations…We learned with great perseverance for several years… and then the laws of Ksubos in depth. And whenever we had a novel thought or explanation, we wrote it down to remember it.”
The end of the sefer presents chiddushim taught by his son-in-law Harav Avraham Chaim of Zlotchov, author of Orach L’Chaim.

Both sefarim are bound in matching old half-leather bindings. Worn at edges.

Harav Pinchas Halevi Horowitz (1731-1805), Av Beis Din of Frankfurt,   He disseminated Torah throughout Germany and amassed legions of talmidim in both the Revealed and Hidden Torah, most notably among them his prime disciple the Chasam Sofer. he traveled with his brother to learn from the  Maggid of Mezritch.
