A treasured collection of original Jewish-European liturgical music composed by the greatest cantor of all times the beloved
YOSSELE ROSENBLATT.

Compositions in the notebook includes:

Tisbareich: Rosenblatt’s very first composition which he composed at the age of 14 in 1897 while still in Europe.

Lecha Dodi: An unknown composition that has never been recorded. According to his notes, he composed this melody in July, 1927 while touring Los Angeles, California.

Adon Olam:
The composition is written in three different formulas:
A. For the cantor
B. For the cantor and chorus 
C. For the cantor, chorus and baritone cantor
Never recorded, it is dedicated to Rosenblatt’s father, Chazzan Rafael Rosenblatt z”l and is autographed ‘Ben (son of) Rafael.

Other compositions sung during Shabbos prayers include:
V’Shamru Bnei Yisrael for cantor and choir;
Mizmor Shir L’Yom Hashabbos;
L’hagid Ki Yashar Hashem;
Raza D’Shabbos; and Hashem Malach Geius Lavesh. All these compositions are neither known nor recorded.

Two other compositions in the notebook include two very well-known prayers:
Birkas Tal from Mussaf of Pesach
;

Zachor Av, the prayer for rain recited in Mussaf of Shemini Atzeres
.

Birkas Tal is inscribed along with its words and appears on pages 33-35. 
Zachor Av, composed in 1922, appears on pages 36 -37a. It is a composition for cantor and choir. 
The famous
Areshes Sefaseinu for Rosh Hashanah that was composed by Rosenblatt in Europe in the year 1902 also appears in this collection.

A very important composition found in this collection that was never recorded by Yossele Rosenblatt is
Na’aritzach from Kedushah of Shabbos. 
The dates presented here are based on the listings in this notebook, such as Hashem Malach Geius Laveish, a composition for Shabbos. Rosenblatt began composing it on May 20, 1931 and completed it on August 13 in San Antonio, Texas.

All songs are signed by artist Yossele Rosenblatt with composition dates.

47 double-sided leaves of music notes, all written in fountain pen in the clear penmanship of the celebrated Jewish composer and chazzan Yossele Rosenblatt. Page size: 24 X 30.5 cm.

Annotations of Henry Rosenblatt appear throughout the notebook in pencil.
The owner of this collection received it from Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt’s son, Avraham Chaim- Henry Rosenblatt.
