Collection of Torah Discourses by Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz. Ukraine, circa 1830

The present manuscript encompasses hundreds of Torah thoughts by Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz.

Some of them apparently have never been published.

Koritz writings

Harav Pinchas of Koritz did not record his teachings, albeit his students did. Throughout the years, these copies were dispersed and eventually published together with different sefarim such as Geulas Yisrael, Likutei Shoshanim, Midrash Pinchas, Imrei Pinchas and others. Recently all of the writings known from Rabbi Pinchos Koritz were compiled into one large sefer called Imrei Pinchas HaShalem.

The end of Imrei Pinchas Hashalem features a list of 35 manuscripts that were used by the editor, however this manuscript is not mentioned. This manuscript contains a few differences in formulation then some of the teachings written in Imrei Pinchas Hashalem, as well as several that were apparently not published there.

Harav Pinchas of Koritz (1726-1791) was one of the Baal Shem Tov’s greatest disciples, and one of the founders of Chassidus. The Baal Shem Tov said that a soul such as that of Rav Pinchas’ only descends once in 500 years, and all the great Chassidic tzaddikim regarded him with honor. The Minchas Elazar wrote in Shaar Yissachar, “I saw that holy Rav Pinchas of Koritz spoke with ruach hakodesh and that my holy grandfather the Bnei Yissaschar built and expanded an immense amount of teachings upon the basis of his words in his speeches.” (Ma’amar Zman Simchaseinu ch. 22)
