Written by his daughter and son-in-law regarding their efforts to obtain immigration certificates to Eretz Yisrael for the Rebbe after WWII (1945)
Two personal letters written by Rebbetzin Chaya Roiza Teitelbaum and Harav Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Teitelbaum, Av Beis Din of Szentmihály and head of Satmar Institutions in Yerushalayim, to their father and father-in-law the Admor Harav Yoel of Satmar regarding their efforts on his behalf to obtain immigration certificates to Eretz Yisrael after WWII.
In their letters, the Rebbe’s daughter and son-in-law describe actions taken and additional efforts that could still be made in Switzerland in order to obtain the coveted certificates that would enable the Rebbe’s immigration to Eretz Yisrael and bring an end to his travels, travails and the rescue efforts on his behalf during the Holocaust years and thereafter.
The Rebbe Harav Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Teitelbaum (1905-1966) was the son of the Sassover Rebbe Harav Chanoch Henoch, scion of the Alesk dynasty and author of the Ein Chanoch, and son-in-law of Harav Yoel of Satmar. He administrated the renowned Yeshivah in Satmar and was rescued from the war together with his wife, after which they immigrated to the Holy Land. The Satmar Rav stayed in their home during his first visit to Eretz Yisrael. Years later, Harav Chananya Yom Tov Lipa emigrated along with his father-in-law to the United States, but ultimately returned to found Kiryat Yismach Moshe in Petach Tikva. Among his noteworthy writings is the Minchas Yom Tov.
