Maaneh Lashon was accepted among Chassidic congregations as the fundamental book of prayers to be recited at the burial sites of tzaddikim throughout the ages.
Admorim, chassidim and the pious would pilgrimage to the burial sites of tzaddikim, recite these prayers and chapters of Tehillim, following the order established in Maaneh Lashon.
This sefer was most widely disseminated among Lubavitcher chassidim, after the Mitteler Rebbe instructed his chassidim to recite it at the tziyun of his father, the Admor Hazakein. In 1812, the Admor Rayatz printed copies of this sefer in order to avail it to his chassidim who came to pray in the Ohel of the Baal Hatanya. Following the passing of the Rayatz, his son-in-law, the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, reprinted Maaneh Lashon so it could also be recited in the Ohel of the Rayatz.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe would recite this order of prayers whenever visiting the tziyun, and this custom is perpetuated by chassidim who pilgrimage to any of their sacred sites until this very day.

Contents of Prayers:
Prayers recited at a cemetery; order of chapters of Tehillim; order of Viduy “Ribon Ha’olamim”; “Shalom alecha Adoneinu, Moreinu v’Rabbeinu” prayer; chapters of Tehillim; passages from the Zohar.
When reciting Maaneh Lashon, it is customary to also recite Pidyon Nefesh at the burial site of the Admorim (side 11).
The present first edition of Maaneh Lashon has several variances from the current widespread edition.
