Admor Rabbi Yissachar dov of Belz
to the Wedding of His Son the
Admor Rabbi Aaron of Belz. 1898
Original letter containing an invitation to the wedding of the Admor Rabbi Aaron of Belz, with word of blessings and autographed by his saintly father, the Admor Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz.
The invitation is to the wedding of
“My brilliant son Aaron sheyichyeh, that will take place at a good time and with a good fortune on the 2nd day of the month of Adar.” The Admor adds his handwritten blessings and autograph.
The letter contains warm blessings as,
“And I wish to bless you that Hashem Yisborach should send you a speedy recovery, and that you will soon reclaim your full health, and you should have success in all your business…and much nachas from all your descendants, and be blessed with all the desires of your heart for goodness…”
The Admor completes the letter with his inscription:
“The words of the one who blesses you with a speedy recovery and all goodness. Hakatan Yissachar Dov of Belz.”
This letter is unprinted and not recorded in any bibliography.
In 1894, the holy Admor Rabbi Yehoshua of Belz arranged the engagement of his beloved grandson, the future Admor Rabbi Aaron of Belz, to his granddaughter, the righteous future Rebbetzin Malka, a granddaughter of the Admor Rabbi Shmuel of Scala (who was a son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vizhnitz, son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin). When someone once came to praise the young man, the Admor expressed,
“Men darf zehen er zol bleiben in di mishpachah. We must see that he remains within the family.” Indeed, the wedding was celebrated four years later, in the town of Scala, on the 2nd day of Adar, 5698 (1894).
The Admor
Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz (circa 1852-1927) was the son of the Admor Rabbi Yehoshua of Belz, son of the Sar Shalom of Belz. He was the third Admor of the Belz dynasty, and during his reign, expanded his Holy Court to become a prominent center of Chassidus that attracted thousands from Poland and beyond.
Harav Yissachar Dov was renowned as a miracle worker and said to possess Divine inspiration. He fought valiantly to preserve authentic Torah Judaism, and his influence and leadership extended throughout Jewish Galicia. Stories upon his greatness were compiled into Sefer Admorei Belz Vol. 3 Ch. Poel Yehuos.
The Admor Rabbi Aaron of Belz (1880-1957) succeeded his father, the saintly Admor Rabbi Yissachar Dov. He miraculously escaped the clutches of the Nazis during World War Two and journeyed to Eretz Yisrael where he rebuilt the glorious Belz dynasty in the holy land.
