"Do not Worry About the Past…"
Letter of Encouragement to an Orphan, Handwritten by the Yunger Rebbe of Slonim; Baranowicze, ca. 1934
Handwritten and signed letter from the holy Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua of Slonim, son of the Beis Avraham of Slonim.
In his letter, the Admor encourages an orphaned follower writing, "do not worry about the past… and you may approach me in writing whenever you wish."
He also details the fundamentals of Chassidus: Guarding one’s eyes and thoughts, and remaining among fellow Chasidim, "to go among our beloved and pleasant people who certainly wish for your best…"
Rabbi Shlomo David Yehoshua Weinberg (1916 – 1943) was the son of the Beis Avraham of Slonim. Following his father’s death, he was appointed Admor of the Slonim Chassidus when he was a mere twenty-years-old. He settled in Baranowicze, and was accepted by all the community’s elders despite his young age. He stood at the helm of the Toras Chessed Yeshiva and served as president of Yeshivas Ohr Torah in Tveria and Kollel Reisin. He perished in the Holocausts in a camp near Baranowicze.
