A lengthy reply written by Rabbi Amram Blau to the ‘Badatz Eida Hachareidis’ of Jerusalem, that they were against his getting married to the convert Rus ben Dovid
This is a long letter from Rabbi Amram Blau to the Rabbanim of the Eida Hachareidis of Jerusalem. In the letter he specifies the chain of events, from the suggestion of the shidduch until now.
4 big pages, from the seventh day of Adar 5725, with fixings and erasing.
It happened after the whole story of the boy Yossele' Shuchmacher, Rus Ben-Dovid got engaged, a little after she married Rabbbi Amram Blau who was around 70 years old. His marriage to a convert who was catholic before, now in her 40's caused extreme opposition in the 'Nituya Karta' group and the 'Eida Hachareidis'. His students and his sons, saw a dishonor in this marriage. They felt that it was not a righteous act for someone of his caliber. The Rabbis of Eida Hachareidis were against the marriage for reasons of Jewish law, because an old man shouldn’t marry a young woman. Because of this they excommunicated him, which is why he had to leave Jerusalem and move to Bnei Brak. Despite the very strong protests that he is not listening to the Eida Hachareidis, the two married on the sixth of Elul 5725.(Wikipedia)
